I was laughing with my therapist that I thought organization tools were another cure all for fixing women’s lives... decluttering, Marie Kondoing, putting cereal in matching containers! If only we could contain it all in organized storage then our lives would finally be managed.

Great read and perspective.

"Productivity is really a social justice issue" -- well-said. I loved how you connected the toxic parts of the wellness industry to the toxic side of productivity. Sometimes all the things I'm supposed to be doing for my wellness are just more items on my delusional to do list!

Great read thank you for sharing, I love the therapy takeaways especially the idea of needing to integrate the pause an important reminder shared with all the other therapists I work with who also need to hear this. Book sounds great can't wait to read.

I really like what you are promoting with your book Real Self Care. I agree that Capitalism and white supremacy are the engines of oppression and destruction of our health and well being. After briefly reviewing your book I could not feel something is missing from your book. The techniques of power used to keep the system running and stable privilege men and white wealthy men. By burning out women making them quit their jobs or fight against structural change or denying them abortions, contraception or health care or education they win. They keep their power. Many of us have had no choice but forgo relationships and dating or even having children in order to advance in our careers and still we are blocked by a system that privileges men, white heterosexual men. This is not only an economic war or a race war it is a gender based class war. Thank you for your work on this. I have had a problem with organizations promoting wellness when the problem is not individuals but dysfunctional organizations that fail workers. My graduate project was researching organizational health for health care workers and it was revealing.

This is wonderful. With support from my own therapist, I was able to come to terms with my taking on too much. I have made a lot of firm nos and in doing so opened myself to more opportunities that serve me and my family.
